Students from the Senior High School (SHS) of Philippine School Doha beefed up to prove their value as they showcase P.A.K. Glamour!, A Celebration of Learning last Oct. 23 at PSD gym with the theme "Pioneers in Achieving Knowledge". This aims to strengthen education by safeguarding academic excellence in all the tracks of their first semestral experience thru Social Sciences, Mathematics, Science and Technology, Arts and Literature.
Being cohesive from diverse activity is a bootstrap by which students can nurture themselves to their sufficient stability. According to Dr. Alexander S. Acosta, PSD Principal, the event is a perfect venue where students can engage in a productive interaction. He believed that it is an excellent way for students to imbibe discipline and creativity and a good venue to sharpen their skills to withstand pressure with the demands of the senior high school life. Different highlights of the festivity were prepared by the students and their respective teachers. Mrs. Paulita Pal, SHS Cordinator, stressed out that what they're doing is in sync with PSD's vision of seeing more Filipino expats, regardless of faith, to become more modest. It is in this way that they will grow up to be more amenable of other people's differences.
Philippine School Doha's P.A.K. Glamour served as the first of its kind in the history of PSD-it brings together in one show the different concluding activities of the Senior High School as a celebration of learning. It was a moment of self-confidence exposure on stage for the participants and fulfillment of parents who gave their children moral support. It is a reinforcement of their lessons in their respective strands or an initial step in developing their talents. The students staged Fashion Show, Variety Show, Bank Simulation, Science is Magic, TGI Rhodium and Photo booth. It's a first because in one show, the audience had a comparative showcase of the different talents of this generation.
Furthermore, the event also showcased the glimpse of the creativity, design thrust, and innovative bent of fashion design of the different couture of Qatar. The creative gowns of Ronald Francisco, Mon Sarmiento, Zandro Adriano, Jamila Marcos Ahmed and Thato Inggo were ramped in a special portion modeled by PSD SHS's very own gorgeous and glamorous young ladies. The hand-painted, refreshing designs of barongs were extremely captivating. The clothes flaunted bold, playful prints and hues. The artistic barongs on the collection are created by Celso Collado Dahil. This infused the admiration of the designer to the Philippine culture. Moreover, the modern ethnic clothing, sponsored by KULAY, was also staged during the fashion show. Furthermore, Salad Master and Take me There App also extended their help in order to realize the goal of the celebration.
The K to 12 Program of Philippine School Doha covers Kindergarten and 12 years of basic education to provide sufficient time for mastery of concepts and skills, develop lifelong learners, and prepare graduates for tertiary education, middle-level skills development, employment, and entrepreneurship. Senior High School is two years of specialized upper secondary education; students may choose a specialization based on aptitude, interests, and school capacity. The choice of career track will define the content of the subjects a student will take in Grades 11 and 12. SHS subjects fall under either the Core Curriculum or specific Tracks.
The festivity would not be made possible without the initiative of entire SHS faculty spearheaded by the department coordinator Mrs. Paulita Pal. The event established a new foundation in achieving knowledge among them. By getting them involved on what they have learned during the first semester, these students made the festivity worth remembering as their stability and competence are evident during the program. PSD had set a new episode of its enduring bequest. With this activity, PSD once again upsurges its level of proficiency and advocates its philosophy of SERVICE AND EXCELLENCE!
