Students of Philippine School Doha (PSD) had gathered up inside the PSD Gymnasium to partake in the oathtaking of newly elected class and club officers last 12th of September.
John Maxwell once said, leaders become great not because of their power, but because of their ability to empower others. These words were also muttered by PSD's principal, Dr. Alexander S. Acosta as he delivered his welcoming remarks. Dr. Acosta mentioned some critical aspects that were considered in defining a deserved leader within any factions of organizations.
"A deserving leader must be dominant in upholding consistency, making the right choices, displaying a right character, exemplifying one's credit and reinforcing their own credibility as an individual. To be a leader is to be a servant, for true leaders are the future of the world."
As the students listened to the principal's opening remarks, many were hyped to get on stage and execute their applausive oathtaking that would forever make a mark on PSD's astute reputation. After Dr. Acosta's message, the oathtaking took place, calling all the newly elected classroom officers from different levels starting from 7th grades up until the 12th graders. Officers from all officialdoms within the PSD premises such as The Link, SSG, CAT, Chorale, and the like, were also present as they stood up with dignity, while each of them reflected on their own characters, thoughts, and deeds. The newly elected officer swore to uphold fairness in all their future dealings within their respective organizations while abiding with PSD's own constitution and bylaws.
Headed by the Vice Principal of Student Affairs, Mrs. Melissa Montayre, the event was indeed successful. "Be grateful for what you already have while you pursue your goals. Success is not how high you have climbed, but how you make a positive difference to the world" Mrs. Montayre uttered as she delivers her vote of thanks.
Through this gathering, the newly elected officers bolted through their expedition in unleashing their maximum potential as chosen leaders that would translate vision into reality. PSD will continue to thrive students in reinforcing their own capabilities preserving the passion of service and excellence!
